Dining is a real pleasure here, with each day beginning with a Signature breakfast at The Dining Room. The great variety of cuisines and unique locations mean you’ll have lots to choose from, such as authentic Malay dishes served in the rainforest at The Gulai House and the oceanside Beach Club where you can dig into Mediterranean specialities in a laid-back environment.

In an exotic rainforest location, the award-winning spa as an excellent range of exquisite treatments that have been inspired by traditional holistic Malay Ramuan healing techniques and rituals. Products used are made from natural ingredients that would be found in the rainforest

The Datai has a team of resident naturalists and marine biologists who lead guided tours through the rainforest and along the beach. Go in search of colourful birds and butterflies, trek to a creek for a swim and learn about the intricate plant and animal life found along the shoreline. If you wish to learn the secrets of Malay cooking, join a tour of the garden with the chef to collect herbs and spices before joining a cooking class.

Fringed by rainforest, the beach at the Datai has a wonderful setting for you to try the ample range of watersports, including snorkelling, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing and Hobie sailing.

Surrounded by nature, The Datai is committed to conserving the environment with a series of sustainability initiatives and has created The Datai Pledge, based on four pillars:

• Pure for the Future by reducing waste, recycling, educating and supporting the local community.

• Wildlife for the Future through restoring habitats, protecting wildlife and reforestation.

• Fish for the Future in partnership with MareCet to regenerate coral, raising awareness of sustainable fishing and creating adopt a dolphin programmes.

• Youth for the Future working with Green Growth Asia Foundation by sponsored two local schools to be part of the Eco-Schools project with students visiting The Datai to learn about their sustainability programmes.

Children's activities such as nature walks, habitat exploration, watersports lessons, kite flying, movie nights family pool and a toddler pool are available. Babysitting services available at a cost.

Just five-minutes from the Datai is the award-winning The Els Club Teluk Datai. Designed by Ernie Els, it is set against a backdrop of the Matchineang mountain range and overlooks the Andaman Sea.

Guests under 12 are not permitted in the hotel's lobby lounge after 8pm.

The main pool and health club are reserved for adults age 16 and above.

The Dining Room is restricted to 12 years and above for children.

A tourist tax is payable at the resort.
