Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside
Southern hospitality, Disney style
Taking architecture and design cues from rural Louisiana, this resort hotel features white-column mansions and delightful cottages set in pretty gardens, with the Deep South theme continuing to the restaurants and bars.
This resort has a quieter feel than others in Walt Disney World, perfect for downtime between days in the parks to enjoy a carriage or bike ride along the Sassagoula River or splash about in the large swimming pool, themed on the story of Tom Sawyer. The resort is in the Disney Springs part of Walt Disney World, and you can hop on a boat to reach this large restaurant and retail area. If you’re travelling with a Disney princess fan, choosing one of the Royal Guest Rooms will go down a storm – these rooms feature framed portraits of Disney princesses and magical touches like a light-up headboard.
Why we love Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside
-
Use the complimentary Disney bus network to reach the four theme parks and two waterparks. The closest are Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT, which are around ten minutes away by bus.
-
Guests of Disney Resort hotels like this one get early access to the Disney parks, so the fun starts 30 minutes before the gates open to everyone else.
-
Choose a Royal Guest Room for maximum Disney theming, styled around Tiana from The Princess and the Frog, with other guestrooms featuring a more subtle nod to the movie.
-
Rent four-seater Surrey bikes or take a horse-drawn carriage ride along the Sassagoula River, departing from the Riverside Levee Marina.
Rooms
Aside from the King Room that sleeps two adults, all rooms accommodate four or five guests. The 5th Sleeper rooms feature a child-sized pull-down bed. The Preferred Rooms are worth considering to be closer to the Disney transport – a Walt Disney World holiday involves a lot of walking, so you may be grateful for a guestroom that’s closer to the bus stop at the end of a busy day.
The Royal Guest Rooms are don’t hold back on the Disney theming and feature headboards that light up with fireworks, framed portraits of Disney princesses, and taps shaped like the genie lamp from Aladdin.
Facilities
There are two restaurants: one counter-service food court and Boatwright’s Dining Hall, a dinner-only table service restaurant. The two themed bars also offer selected smaller bites. If you want more choices, you can hop on a complimentary boat from the resort’s pier and be at Disney Springs in 15 minutes, where there are over 60 dining venues.
Riverside Mill Food Court
Five cooking stations cover a bakery, grill, pizza & pasta, specialities, and sandwiches with a Southern Louisiana theme. Take your food away or dine on colourful chairs beneath the vaulted ceiling.
River Roost
Pick libations from a vast selection at this themed bar. There’s also a small menu of appetisers, leaning on unmistakable Deep South flavours.
Muddy Rivers
A poolside bar for quick refreshments and a small menu of salads and sandwiches.
Boatwright’s Dining Hall
A dinner-only, table service restaurant with Louisiana favourites such as jambalaya, Cajun chicken, and Deep South shrimp.
Keep everyone happy with the varied options available at Riverside Mill Food Court. It’s also a quick option if you’ve got places to be.
