Margaritaville Resort & Cottages Orlando
Fun-filled and fabulous
When an oversized, glittery red flip-flop greets you in the lobby, you know you’re staying somewhere that doesn’t take itself too seriously. This effervescent place brings beach vibes to the centre of Orlando.
There’s always plenty to do at Margaritaville, from quizzes and cabana lounging around the lagoon or resort pools to whizzing around on Surrey bikes or relaxing at the St. Somewhere Spa. Although its roots serving knock-your-socks-off margaritas is in its DNA, it’s welcoming to all ages, and plenty of families stay here, particularly in the resort's one- to eight-bedroom cottages. It’s in the new neighbourhood of Sunset Walk, just a ten-minute drive from Walt Disney World and a ten-minute walk from the super fun waterpark, Island H20.
Why we love Margaritaville Resort & Cottages Orlando
-
Weekends are especially lively, with Island Time around the pool featuring the ‘foam palooza’ and Polynesian-style performances.
-
The resort runs free shuttles to the Walt Disney World theme parks and Universal Orlando Resort; the resort concierge can sort out your tickets if you have not got them in advance
-
It’s got a great pool of its own, but you can walk to Island H20 Water Park in ten minutes if you’re looking for the whole shebang.
-
The rooms feel spacious, laid-back, and fabulously tropical while the cottages are the perfectly private place to retreat to with your family or larger group.
Rooms
There are 265 guest rooms and suites here, so it’s not a huge hotel, particularly by Orlando standards. They feel like rooms you might find in a SoCal beach house with pops of sea blue and coral, armchairs that invites you to curl up with a good book, and fully furnished balconies. You can even catch a view of the theme park fireworks if you opt for a park view room. The cottages are the best choice if you want to stretch out or are heading Stateside as a family or group. There are one- to eight-bedroom cottages, some with pools and some right on the lake shore; as these are unique cottages with individual layouts, images are just an example; bed types are subject to availability on arrival.
Facilities
One main restaurant and bar, Euphoria, is complemented with a lively poolside bar and super handy marketplace. For more options, you can walk to Sunset Walk Promenade, where there are plenty of restaurants to try.
Euphoria Fish House
Opens for breakfast, then evolves into an atmospheric evening restaurant with a top-notch seafood menu. While signature margaritas are always available, there are plenty of other options. Don’t miss Florida’s favourite dessert – Key Lime Pie.
Salty Rim Bar & Grill
This is your go-to for poolside snacks and refreshments. Look out for live entertainment from Wednesdays to Sundays.
Provisions
A premium marketplace for grabbing quick bites or bits to take with you on a day out.
Provisions Marketplace
It's all about grab-and-go style dining at this casual venue; you can get quick bites such as wraps, salads and sandwiches as well as park snacks for the whole family.
Shark Bites
Sometimes hunger strikes in the evening once many restaurants are closed for the night. That's where Shark Bites comes in - this after-hours snack bar is the go to spot for light bites, ice cream and drinks.
The St. Somewhere Spa is an oasis of sea foam green and oak finishes with skin care, massages, and manicures available.
Fins Up Beach Club's pool features a fantastic lagoon-style swimming pool, soft sand beach and plenty of daily activities, from water balloon challenges to sand art sessions and trivia.
You can hire cabanas, but poolside service is available whether you’re in a cabana or not and there's the Margaritaville Store where you can bag some souvenirs and merch to commemorate your stay. When you’re ready for more, you can rent Surrey bikes and pootle your way through the resort and the Promenade at Sunset Walk beyond (which is also well within walking distance from the resort).
