A collection of farmhouses on a 900-acre estate resort in the Tuscan countryside.
Twelve farmhouses are dotted over a sprawling rural estate that’s wonderfully remote and surrounded by rolling Tuscan hills, lush woodlands, olive groves and vineyards. The apartment-style accommodation within each farmhouse is ideal for a multi-generational family holiday, a rural escape with friends, or as a couple.
Why we love Castellare di Tonda Resort & Spa
-
The hotel is located in the countryside not far from the stunning towns of San Gimignano and Certaldo; the views of the olive grove-cloaked rolling hills (especially from the panoramic pool) are fantastic
-
There's a real focus on local produce here - they strive for the lowest food miles possible with many ingredients grown on site
-
You can enjoy attentive service from the hotel staff - nothing is too much trouble at Castellare di Tonda Resort & Spa
-
There are 12 farm houses which have been split into apartments and all guests have access to a shared pool.
Rooms
The 12 farmhouses - each with a shared pool - range from secluded apartments to apartment clusters close to the resort facilities, including the restaurant, wellness centre, mini club, and riding stables.
Facilities
The apartments have kitchenettes, but you’ll be tempted to dine on fresh Tuscan dishes at the resort’s traditional restaurant on the estate, which has a picturesque terrace and serves seasonal local dishes.
Castellare Cocktail Bar-Bistrot
The day at this all-day venue begins with a buffet that's packed with sweet and savoury favourites; if you're a late riser, there's a late breakfast available. Head here for light lunches under the shade-giving pergola or in the sun-kissed garden that has stunning views of the Tuscan countryside; there's even a separate children's menu so you can dine together as a family. Later in the day, you can enjoy afternoon snacks and pre-dinner cocktails that are best enjoyed in the company of your loved ones.
Il Gusto del Castellare
The hotel's seasonal signature restaurant (open from April and throughout the late spring and summer) is the place to head for Tuscan-inspired dinners and themed meals to the backdrop of live music. The produce that's used to create mouthwatering meals is sourced as locally as possible and is always organic and paired with carefully curated wines. There's seating both in the historic lemon house and on the outdoor terrace so you can be sure of an inforgettable ambiance.

Wellbeing comes in the form of outdoor adventures and wellness treatments at the spa, which has a Turkish bath, a sauna, an ice cave and sensory showers. The massages and treatments here are based on Thai and Ayurvedic philosophies. For the ultimate in relaxation, absorb the views from the Jacuzzi.
Horse riding is one of the most popular activities with plenty of trails through forests and vineyards leading to medieval castles. You can also explore the estate on foot, by bike or on a tractor tour. Learn the secrets of Tuscan cuisine with a lesson at the culinary school.
Children are well looked after thanks to a kids’ club and riding school so that adults can sneak off for some cooking lessons, fishing, or a glass of local wine by the pool.
Minimum stay: 5 nights 01 Jul-31 Aug; 2 nights at all other times.
A tourist tax is payable at the hotel.
