A laid-back all-inclusive resort with a beachy and contemporary style
OBLU NATURE Helengeli is blessed with a paradisical setting on a tiny sand-edged island fringed with coral reefs and marine super-highways. If you dive or want to learn, or are happy to stay on the surface with a mask and snorkel, you’ll be gifted a memorable insight into a magical underwater world. Even on dry land, the ocean is ever-present. There are turquoise-blue views from the light-filled villas and suites, sand under your feet at the inviting seafood grill and the gentle soundtrack of the waves in the spa’s outdoor treatment spaces. The effect is undeniably romantic but, with child-friendly accommodation and a nature-themed interactive kids’ club, it will appeal as much to families as to honeymooners.
Why we love OBLU Nature Helengeli by Sentido
-
It’s superb for snorkelling and diving, with an in-house reef, channels teeming with marine life on either side and 30 dive sites in easy reach
-
The OBLU Island Plan is an excellent all-inclusive package, covering everything from speedboat transfers to sunset boat rides and yoga
-
There’s food for every culinary mood, from an afternoon graze on Maldivian street snacks to grown-up seafood dinners on the beach
-
Families will love the imaginative programme at the kids’ club, while couples can chill out at the spa or the adult-only infinity pool
Rooms
Draped around the shoreline and out into the ocean, the 152 villas and suites all have sea views as standard and a clean-cut design of white with pops of colour that puts those breathtaking vistas centre stage. The Deluxe Beach Villa and Deluxe Beach Villa with Pool are similar in design, but the latter has a private plunge pool for refreshing dips. In the Lagoon Villa with Pool, jutting out over the sea, you’ll almost feel part of the ocean – an effect that’s even stronger in the completely over-water Sunrise Water Villa with Pool and Sunset Water Villa with Pool. If you’re travelling with children, the Two Bedroom Family Villa with Pool provides space, privacy and two bathrooms. Finally, there is the spacious Two Bedroom Beach Suite with Pool, right on the sand, and the Water Suite with Pool, perched above the Indian Ocean at the end of the line of Sunset Water Villas.
Facilities
The culinary offerings include everything you need, from a go-to buffet restaurant to a stylish Indian venue and a special beach grill for romantic moments. By day, there’s a pool bar that transforms into an evening cocktail bar and a local-style snack bar for afternoon nibbles.
The Spice
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the main restaurant features international and Maldivian buffet selections and live cooking stations.
Just Grill
This open-air eatery serves up grilled seafood and meat, along with pizzas and Mediterranean flavours, on the beach at lunch and dinner.
Hedhikaa Hut
Drop by in the late afternoon for a selection of traditional Maldivian snacks.
Helen’s
The resort’s poolside bar delivers drinks to your sunbed or overwater hammock. Come evening, live music or a DJ gets everyone on their feet.
Raga Route
Billed as a ‘progressive Indian restaurant’, Raga Route has an innovative dinner menu of thali platters and made-to-order dishes and also opens for sunset cocktails.
Dine by Design
For a special meal, there are various private dining possibilities, from dinner by candlelight on the sand to a meal of all your favourite things to eat.
If you like the idea of Indian cooking with a contemporary update, we think you’ll love the food at Raga Route.

The resort has a PADI/SSI dive centre whose multilingual instructors can introduce you to the plethora of stunning local underwater spots – including a reef on the doorstep – whether you’re a beginner or a qualified diver. There’s also a separate watersports centre well stocked with snorkelling equipment, stand-up paddleboards, pedalos and kayaks. Motorised watersports can be arranged for an extra cost.
As a Green Globe-certified resort, OBLU NATURE Helengeli takes its impact on the environment very seriously. All the drinking water comes from an on-site desalination plant and is served in reusable glass bottles. Wastewater is treated and reused in the gardens, and what little else is not reused or recycled is dealt with in a state-of-the-art incinerator.
Flexible accommodation choices, child-friendly food in most restaurants and an interactive kids’ club where younger guests will learn all about nature while having fun make this an excellent choice for families.
