Even the views are five-star

A stylish hotel with a variety of facilities, attentive service and wonderful views.

Striking a perfect balance between natural beauty, luxurious comforts and the renowned Taj service, this hotel is one of the finest choices in Bentota. With its beautifully maintained gardens, a setting on a headland between two golden sand beaches and views over the Indian Ocean, you’d be forgiven for spending all your time relaxing. The hotel’s handful of restaurants are as stylish as you’d expect from Taj Resorts, with everything from flavourful Chines food to fresh mojitos made with pandan leaves.

The Palms
The main restaurant offers all-day dining by the pool and serves up Sri Lankan, Indian and international buffet dishes at breakfast, lunch and dinner; there’s also an à la carte menu.

S.H.A.C.K.
Set in a rustic thatched pavilion overlooking the sea, with tables on the lawn, this laidback seafood restaurant is perfect for a grown-up dinner under the stars.

Oriental Pavilion
This à la carte dinner venue is one of only a few Chinese restaurants in Southern Sri Lanka and has a sophisticated offering based around dishes from the Imperial kitchens.

Tease
There are live bands and signature cocktails every night at the resort’s chic lounge bar.

Dining beside the ocean on the catch of the day at S.H.A.C.K. is our idea of the perfect way to end the day.

What's included

Breakfast at The Palms.

Jiva Spa’s therapies are based on ancient Indian Ayurvedic traditions and feature ingredients such as frankincense, ginger oil and eucalyptus. It’s not just about the appealing list of treatments, though; there’s also a sanarium (half sauna, half steam room), a Roman-style bath, an infinity pool and an outdoor shower.

The 24-hour gym is equipped with cardio machines and weights and has a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi for your post-workout recovery. If you prefer to be outdoors, you can head out on a mountain bike or head down the steps to the all-but-deserted beach for a jog.

The beach below the hotel is great for surfing, and the hotel can arrange lessons. Take a cruise through the mangroves on the Madur River or if you are visiting from October and March join a whale watching excursion from Galle,

The bathroom amenities are made by Indian Ayurvedic brand Forest Essentials using natural and seasonal ingredients

Flexible accommodation choices mean there’s something suitable for families of all sizes.

The Taj Kids programme offers a variety of complimentary and paid activities at the hotel.

A local railway line runs behind the hotel.

Compulsory gala dinner 31 Dec, supplement applies.
