In the heart of the Golden Triangle, a two-hour journey from Jaipur and four hours from Agra, lies a spot in Rajasthan’s untamed country where tigers roam and jungle forts peep out of the solitary slopes.
In Sariska National Park, a textured patchwork of tall, hazy forest, jade-green streams and sculptured rock, its 29 resident tigers are a testament to ecological perseverance and with an elusiveness that only adds to the thrill of off-grid Jeep drives. Bumping along jungle paths, you may see a sloth bear padding across the way, langur hanging in the trees or bambi-like chital deer taking flight in numbers across the arid grass. The park is closed from July to September every year for the monsoon season.
Elsewhere we’re reminded of Rajasthan’s rich and spellbinding history with crumbling ancient cities peering out of the terrain. On excursions you feel as though you’re stumbling across something for the first time such as an abandoned 16th-century ghost town half devoured by the hills or remnants of an 3rd-century city camouflaged into the rock.
Embrace Rajasthan’s magical countryside with the help of our Indian experts. They know best how to include this off-grid excursion on any tailored itinerary.
