Where is Las Vegas?
In the desert region of Vegas Valley and surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Las Vegas is in the southern part of Nevada’s Silver State in the Mojave Desert. It has close borders with both Arizona and California and is about a four-hour drive from the Grand Canyon.
Entertainment
There are the mega casino resorts where you can try your Lady Luck, hedonistic late-night clubs and show-stopping Broadway, circus and A-list star entertainment to book. Part of Las Vegas for over 20 years, the jaw-dropping Cirque du Soleil runs all year long and is a must, and if there’s a superstar in residence during your stay make sure to nab seats early for a spectacular performance. Expect big shows everywhere, from the candy-coloured Spiegel tent outside Caesars Palace to the 27-foot deep pool on stage at the Wynn.
What to do
You’re going to want to wander up and down through the throng of crowds on the Strip a fair few times, have a photo outside the iconic Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign and the Fountains of Bellagio and check out the dancing mermaids at the Silverton casino. The brave hearted can jump off the top of Stratosphere, zip line from SlotZilla over Fremont Street or take a ride on the mind-blowing High Roller. Back on solid ground, there’s gangster history to explore at the Mob Museum, a journey through neon history at the super-cool Neon Boneyard and an intriguing circulation of fascinating collections in the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art. Downtown’s Fremont Street is a big part of the Vegas experience, where classic hotels are full of old-school Vegas charm, local bands play cool covers, and an LED canopy blasts hits from home-grown bands like The Killers and Imagine Dragons overhead.
Get out of town if you want to escape the bright lights and nightlife for a while, it’s easy to combine a wild weekend with some of the most breathtaking natural scenery in the world – you’re in prime location for taking a helicopter ride over the jaw-dropping Grand Canyon or renting a car and staying a couple of nights on the South Rim. It’s also just a half-hour drive to spectacular Red Rock Canyon.

You can also buy two-hour, 24-hour or three day passes for rides on The Deuce, the most cost-effective public transport in Vegas travelling all along the Strip and to Downtown and Fremont Street. If you want to explore further to the Colorado River, the Grand Canyon, Palms Springs and Los Angeles then hiring a car is the best option. Vegas is a great starting point for a USA road trip through the national parks of Utah and/or California.

There’s The Forum at Caesars Palace housing over 160 high end stores surrounded by glittering replicas of Rome’s Trevi and Triton Fountains and the Fashion Mall bringing opulent weekend fashion shows and the big American department stores of Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Macy’s and Nordstrom. Discounted brands are on offer a taxi ride away at Las Vegas Premium North and you can expect to find weird and wonderful Vegas souvenirs at the Fremont Street Experience.
Food & drink\ Imagine gilded top-chef restaurants, award-winning wine lists, master sommeliers and prized cuisine whether you come for sushi and sashimi or rare snow beef and seafood feasts. There’s celebrated chef José Andrés’ chic Spanish style restaurant in the Cosmopolitan, Jean Georges’ magnificent Steak House at the ARIA and the supremely romantic Restaurant Guy Savoy at Caesars Palace.
