Action-packed for the whole brood
A gorgeous resort with a family-friendly vibe, situated on popular Battu Ferringhi Beach.
Shangri-La Golden Sands has a distinctive family-friendly feel with a Cool Zone Kids Club and three pools; one with a mini waterpark. Dining is casual and relaxed – buffets, wood-fired pizza and barbecues – whilst cooking classes, putt and pitch golf and Chi, The Spa slow the pace.

Rooms
The 387 rooms have a fresh and vibrant style and are set in the resort’s main building. The Superior Rooms overlook the island’s jungle-covered hills, while the Deluxe Rooms have a balcony and views of the resort’s garden and pool areas. On the top floors are the Executive Seaview Rooms, which have spectacular views out towards the ocean.
Facilities
Casual and relaxed, the dining venues here include the main buffet restaurant, the Garden Café, and the al fresco family restaurant, Sigi’s Bar & Grill, which sits directly on the beach. Sigi’s serves delicious wood-fired pizzas, barbecued meat and fresh seafood. Continuing the modern theme throughout the hotel, the Cool Lounge has internet stations, magazines, five televisions, board games and refreshments, making it a great place to hang out.
Garden Café
Enjoy all-day dining from the à la carte menu with themed buffets Friday to Sunday.
Sigi’s Bar & Grill on the Beach
A popular Italian restaurant located on the beach.
Lobby Lounge
Located at the centre of the reception area where you can enjoy drinks and light snacks.
Cool Lounge
There is plenty to keep you entertained at the Cool Lounge with games, daily newspapers, books and magazines.
We love the variety of dishes on offer at the Beach Club. From sourdough pizzas and mud crab salads to chargrilled sea bass and chicken tikka straight from the tandoor clay oven.

Breakfast at the Garden Café.
Upgrade options
Half Board • Breakfast at the Garden Café • Dinner at a choice of the hotel’s restaurants
Each day there is a programme of activities including jungle and beach walks, croquet, volleyball, yoga, table tennis and badminton.
As well as being located on the Battu Ferringhi Beach, the resort has two swimming pools and a Splash Zone for children complete with water slides, water cannons and water sprayers.
As part of Shangri-La's corporate social responsibility, the hotel supports a welfare organisation for under privileged families and has created a Turtle Care Project to increase the survival rate of hatchlings.
To get out and explore, we’d recommend the Jungle Walk*. It’s a two to three-hour morning walk, so it’s a good one for nature loving older children.
Families of three can share a Superior Room here, with a child up to 12 in a rollaway bed. Or, choose a Deluxe Room and you’ll have a pull-down bed that can be folded away in the day. These come with a balcony overlooking the gardens and pools. Executive Seaview Rooms are higher up with great views. For larger families and groups, there are some interconnecting rooms available.
Cool Zone Kids' Club: Open between 9.30am and 9pm, the kids' club at Shangri-La Golden Sands is complimentary for children aged 5-12 and includes two meals. There are a variety of fun activities to be enjoyed, including traditional Malaysian games, a Little Chef session, kite flying, pool games, sand sculpture, story telling sessions and much more.
There is a nine-hole pitch and putt golf course with holes ranging in length from 27 to 64 metres. There is also a practice green.
Minimum stay: 3 nights 21 Dec-04 Jan.
A tourist tax is payable at the resort.
